Hulk Hogan Biopic Starring Chris Hemsworth Officially Canceled

Bad news for anyone who was excited to see Chris Hemsworth play Hulk Hogan in a movie: the Hulk Hogan biopic that was announced a few years ago is officially not happening anymore. The movie was first talked about in 2019 when Todd Phillips, the director of "Joker," was thinking about making it. But after five years of trying to get it made, Phillips confirmed this week that it’s not going to happen.

Phillips said he liked the idea they had for the movie, but it never came together. First, Netflix seemed to lose interest, and then Chris Hemsworth made it clear that he never officially agreed to be in the movie. Phillips didn’t go into too much detail about why the movie fell apart, just saying, “That’s not going to come together for me.” This is surprising because Phillips was very successful after "Joker," but even that success wasn’t enough to make a movie about a controversial figure like Hulk Hogan.

Still, someone will probably play Hulk Hogan in a movie someday. Recently, there were rumors that Ben Affleck might play Hogan in a different movie that he and Matt Damon are considering. Hogan is still a well-known figure, even if he’s been in the news for the wrong reasons in the last 20 years. So, there’s still a chance for someone else to take on the role, even if it won’t be Chris Hemsworth.
